Hair Extensions

Universal Care

  • • Sunscreen: Avoid products with Avobenzone—can turn extensions peach and stain permanently.

  • • Swimming: Always braid and secure hair before swimming. Rinse immediately after; salt water and chlorine cause dryness and matting.

  • • Sleeping: Never sleep with wet hair. Sleep in 1–2 loose braids or a low pony on a satin pillowcase to reduce tangling.

  • • Brushing: Use a WetBrush or boar-bristle brush. Start at the ends and work up, holding hair at the scalp to prevent tension.

  • • Shampooing: Shampoo as infrequently as your scalp allows. Apply shampoo/conditioner to the crown, letting suds cleanse the extensions. Rinse thoroughly.

  • • Moisture & Heat: Extensions don’t receive scalp oils—apply leave-in conditioner or lightweight oil after every shampoo, and always use a heat protectant when styling.

  • • Water Quality: Install a shower-head filter if your water isn’t already filtered.

  • • Color: Only a professional should tone or color extensions. Never bleach.

  • • Product Build-Up: Dry shampoo is fine, but clarify gently once a month.

Invisible Bead Extensions (IBE)

  • • Schedule move-ups every 6–10 weeks (4–6 for very fine hair).

  • • Hold beads firmly while brushing near the scalp.

  • • Avoid tight ponytails or high buns for the first few days after a move-up.

Beaded Wefts

  • • Similar care to IBE: move-ups about 6–10 weeks.

  • • Ensure wefts remain completely dry at the top of the weft after shampooing to prevent mildew.

K-Tips / Great Lengths

  • • Bonds last 3–5 months.

  • • Do not pick, twist, or pull on the keratin tips.

  • • Avoid conditioners or oils directly on the bonds.

Tape-In Extensions

  • • Maintenance every 6–8 weeks.

  • • Keep oils, serums, or heavy conditioners away from the tape adhesive.

  • • Gently press tapes flat after blow-drying to maintain seal.

V-Light Extensions

  • • Ideal for fine or thinning areas; typically replaced every 3–5 weeks.

  • • Brush with extra care at the attachment points; support each light-cured bond when detangling.
